April 15th: 6:00 – 7:00 pm Central Time Presentation

7:00 – 8:00 pm – Networking, resource sharing, and community building

Presenter: Kelsey Lownds, MM, MT-BC, NICU Music Therapist

Description: True self-care is not all about bubble baths and ice cream, it is making the choice to build a life you don’t regularly need to escape from.  During this presentation we will reframe what it means to care for ourselves, understand the importance of self-care, and start the process of truly caring for ourselves!  A packet will be provided that includes a self-care assessment along with other resources to begin developing an individualized self-care plan, all while increasing understanding of true self-care.

Presenter Bio: Kelsey currently works as a Development Associate at Music Speaks, LLC and teaches undergraduate music therapy courses at The University of Louisville.  Kelsey received her bachelor of science in Psychology and Music from Centre College and continued on to get her masters in music therapy at the University of Kentucky.  Kelsey’s clinical experience includes working with individuals with special needs and the pediatric medical setting.  She is certified as  NICU Music Therapist.  Kelsey co-wrote the Pediatric Medicine chapter in Music Therapy: An Introduction to the Profession and has presented nationally and internationally on music therapy.

50% of the donations raised through this presentation will be donated to Courtney’s Corner.

50% of the donations raised through this presentation will be contributed to the Living Spirit Therapy Services Pay It Forward Campaign to support free or reduced cost music therapy sessions for low income, rural, and minoritized older adults in Minnesota living in private homes.
