Policies

Policy: Discontinuation of Services

Clients may be discontinued under these circumstances:

  • If they are no longer appropriate for services
  • If they move out of service area
  • If more than 3 cancellations occur in a 6-month period
  • If Client fails to make progress on goals and objectives for 8 consecutive sessions without extenuating circumstances such as ongoing illness, death in the family, move, change in school, significant accidents, medication change that would change baseline abilities. Clients may be put on hold until stabilized in these situations.

Policy: Non-discrimination, Ethics, and Equal Opportunity

Policy: Non-Discrimination, Ethics, and Equal Opportunity

Living Spirit Therapy Services, LLC (LSTS) is committed to a policy of non-discrimination and equal opportunity: fairness, justice, and respect for all persons. LSTS works to ensure that the organization, and settings in which we work are safe and welcoming regardless of actual or perceived characteristics, including race, ethnicity, color, religion, ancestry, age, national origin, immigration status, socioeconomic status, marital status, language, ability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, developmental level, health status, or any other personal identity, distinguishing characteristic, or disabilities.

LSTS’s ethics and standards about non-discrimination, equal opportunity, fairness, and social justice are described in the Code of Ethics, Scope of Practice, and the Standards of Clinical Practice. These documents outline LSTS’s expectations for the provision of high quality, non-discriminatory, just and fair music therapy services, education and clinical training practices, and interactions with others.

Consistent with the ethics and standards of LSTS, it is the policy of our organization that:

  • LSTS does not engage in or condone actions and/or policies that discriminate against persons, including clients and their families, other recipients of services, students, interns, supervisees, and colleagues. LSTS supports policies and actions that promote equal opportunity, justice, fairness, and respect for all persons in all settings.
  • LSTS promotes awareness and knowledge of how diversity factors may influence development, behavior, learning, and therapy services.
  • LSTS strives to ensure that all individuals have equal opportunity to participate in and benefit from music therapy.

All music therapists at LSTS are members of the American Music Therapy Association and adhere to Code of Ethics, Scope of Practice, and the Standards of Clinical Practice. This policy aligns with AMTA’s mission of advancing public awareness of the benefits of music therapy and increasing access to quality music therapy services.

COVID and Norovirus

Groups:

  • COVID and norovirus related cancellations: We realize that COVID test results can come in last minute which has been challenging. We cannot facilitate in person sessions a given day if there are active COVID or norovirus cases or residents quarantined on the unit. We also offer telehealth sessions if residents/participants can join from their rooms/separate units; or the individual can participate via telehealth. We would be happy to reschedule for a different day or week as the schedule allows.

For 1:1 clients:

We CANNOT facilitate in person sessions a given day for clients with active COVID or norovirus cases. We CAN facilitate sessions with the client who does not have active infection on a unit as long as they are not testing positve. We also offer telehealth sessions if clients can participate via telehealth. We would be happy to reschedule for a different day or week as the schedule allows.

Both:

  • Please provide as much notice as possible for canceled sessions so we can accommodate other clients and work if needed. If the facility/home has COVID or norovirus and may need to cancel sessions, or may need to cancel for another reason, alerting the primary therapist of the possible need to cancel in advance is helpful.

If a Client is Unable to Pay for Services

If a client is unable to pay for services we will unfortunately need to discontinue sessions.
